Pittsburgh, Feb. 2018 —IoT startup LifeWhere is excited to announce a partnership with Pittsburgh-based HVAC company Boehmer Heating & Cooling to launch the first customer rollout of LifePulse devices.
LifePulse connects inside the home through sensor technology to enable predictive analytics for utilities such as A/C units and furnaces.
By collecting and monitoring data from these machines in the cloud, it enables an alert system to homeowners and service providers to inefficiencies and potential problems.
Boehmer Heating & Cooling is in the process of installing 100 LifePulse units into houses in the Pittsburgh area, allowing the LifeWhere team to monitor critical home assets — assuring houses won’t be without heat unexpectedly.
The sensor technology turns HVAC technicians into a 24/7 monitoring service that proactively reaches out to homeowners to fix things before they break, giving control back to the homeowner and providing peace of mind.
“We’re already uncovering issues that we just couldn’t see on a single repair visit. Lifewhere will significantly enhance our ability to diagnose problems before they become an expensive repair,” said co-owner Steve Boehmer.
It eliminates a technical layer in the homeowner process that scares a lot of people by giving them the information they need to save energy and money.
This comes shortly after Pittsburgh’s most active seed-stage investor Innovation Works commits to investing in the company, further advancing the area’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing the risk capital to those who need it.
Innovation works is a tech incubator that’s invested $73.9M in more than 335 technology startups.
The investment from Innovation Works will significantly contribute to the success MIT grad and CEO Brian Courtney is having working with Carnegie Mellon alumni to reimagine connected home repair, debuting a new smart home.
“Until now, monitoring has been unavailable in the home. It’s been a reality for large companies with expensive equipment, but now the field is wide open. Cost is way down, and information is way up. Monitoring is the big key to savings,” said Courtney.
LifeWhere’s headquarters are in Alloy 26, a cutting edge, co-innovation work space located in the heart of Pittsburgh’s North Side adjacent to the Andy Warhol Museum.
