1,000 Hours a Year initiative helps schools address lead, radon, air quality

“Kids spend an average of 1,000 hours per year in schools. It’s second only to the time they spend in their own homes, says Kara Rubio of Women for a Healthy Environment (WHE). Many schools in the Pittsburgh region are old and potentially full of environmental hazards.

That’s why WHE and Green Building Alliance (GBA) are relaunching the 1,000 Hours a Year initiative to fix these problems in schools and childcare centers across Southwestern PA.”
