Pennsylvania DEP Announces Funding for Small Businesses to Cut Costs and Energy Consumption

Nearly $1 million in new funding will help reduce costs and energy consumption

The Wolf administration approved the funds through the department’s Small Businesses Advantage Grant program, affecting 201 projects statewide.

The range of savings for each of the 201 projects range from $522 to over $66,000 per year. All told, these small businesses will see a net savings of $941,000 annually. Eligible small businesses had fewer than 100 employees and were required to reduce their energy consumption and/or waste by 25 percent of more.

The grant covers the costs of purchasing and installing equipment to lower their energy use or decrease the amount of pollution or waste of operations.

Projects include installing energy saving LED lighting, replacing inefficient heating systems with high-efficiency boilers and HVAC solutions, and installing equipment to eliminate idling for long distance trucks.

Future grant availability will be announced at a later date.
